ACE Dentists meeting in November

Lymebook.com’s newest author, Bill Nordquist, will be speaking Thursday November 12, 2009, at the ACE meeting in November. Below is more information about this event. You can learn more about Dr. Nordquists new book here.

I have been working on the ACE meeting in November, and the topic will be the perio-systemic link as it relate to any dental office, from periodontists to pediatric dental offices. There is a huge amount of interest, and a huge amount of confusion as to diagnosis, and diagnostic standards, about the different treatment options that are now available, and understanding how to implement these new standards in a busy dental practice. This is a very challenging set of ideas we are faced with today.
So, I am very excited to be able to tell you about just our first day, Thursday November 12, 2009- the kickoff day for the whole weekend meeting. Just take a look at who we will have speaking:
1. First of all, Dr. Tom Nabors, the founder of OralDNA labs will be our keynote speaker. Diagnosing periodontal disease today almost has to include some understanding of which particular bacterial are responsible for the infection, and not just the bone loss, or degree of exudate, right? Dr. Nabors has really gotten a great handle on this most important and critical aspect of our treatment of periodontal infections and needs to be heard.
2. Secondly, we will have Dr. Bill Nordquist, DMD of San Diego, a wet fingered dentist who as well as practicing in a busy implant restorative practice, found time to write a book called “The Stealth Killer” (http://www.lymebook.com/stealth-killer-nordquist),
This book will certainly get your attention, as will the evidence presented within it.
3. Thirdly, in the afternoon, we are planning on having Dr. Paul Ewald, Phd, , the author of the book Plague Time , which represents Dr. Ewald’s research in the evolution of microbiota, and the relationship between bacteria and other chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease and stroke is just getting stronger and stronger. Dr. Ewald is a very vigorous researcher and a big name in this emerging field and we are going to learn a great deal here.
4. Our final speaker on Thursday is Dr. Ron McGlennon, MD. Dr. McGlennon is a pathologist and researcher who is known as a very big name in the field of human papilloma virus, which he feels is about to become a very large and problematical concern for dentistry. And learning how to detect and diagnose HPV can be a life saving action that the dental office can do.
Now I realize one thing, if these speakers can’t move our understanding into today’s scientific mindset, well, nobody can!  And I also realize that most of us will be scared so much that we have to go sterilize our mouths with alcohol as soon as we can after the talks! <g>
Thursday’s whole purpose is to try to create an understand of WHY this is important to dentistry today. Friday’s purpose is to examine the various treatment modalities – how we can treat our patients more effectively, and in concert with HOW to do it. And Saturday’s whole work day will be dedicated to HOW to implement our new knowledge into a busy practice, and how it will not only make your practice better, but your level of service better! And I really am hoping for a healthy dialogue from both the attendees and the skeptical ones in the audience, you know, the ones who will say this is unnecessary or untrue and will only lead to overdiagnosis and overtreatment. We need to bring those ideas together!
I can’t wait for this workshop, really!
Rick
ps. If you want to preregister, I am sure Pete will be glad to do it, but I just wanted everyone to have a heads up about this meeting, I think it is very necessary in today’s world. I am expecting a big crowd, in truth. Mark it on your calendar!
