Essential Oils: January Supplement of the Month

I’m convinced that essential oils are among the most promising and helpful options for Lyme disease. If you don’t know what essential oils are, they are simply the very, very concentrated oils extracted from plants and herbs which have known medicinal qualities.

Essential oils can penetrate deep into the brain simply by smelling an open vial of the oil.

According to the University of Minnesota:

Interaction with the Limbic System (Emotional Brain): During inhalation, odor molecules travel through the nose and affect the brain through a variety of receptor sites, one of which is the limbic system, which is commonly referred to as the “emotional brain.”

The limbic system is directly connected to those parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance (Higley & Higley, 1998). This relationship helps explain why smells often trigger emotions. Knowing this, we can hypothesize how inhalation of essential oils can have some very profound physiological and psychological effects! (reference)

There are many studies which show the powerful and profound killing effects essential oils have on microbes. Combine this with their ability to reach the brain, and you have a powerful tool.

Essential oils are also relatively safe (consult your doctor prior to using…) and easy to administer. They are often pleasant-smelling, and because they come from nature, they are considered natural medicine and don’t come with the same problems that pharmaceutical drugs come with.

They can be diffused, smelled, or rubbed on the skin in strategic locations. Some essential oils may be safe to ingest, but you need to consult your physician first, and personally I’ve actually found that smelling them is more powerful than ingesting them.

A very well-respected research physician once told me of an experiment he had is patients do where they dipped their toes in essential oils and could then immediately taste them in their mouths, demonstrating the oils’ ability to permeate the entire body quickly after skin exposure.

Because the brain is often the last frontier to be healed from Lyme, essential oils – and their ability to reach the brain – present a very unique and strategic option for dealing with the final phases of healing from Lyme disease. Many people report more profound and immediate results from essential oils than any other treatment. The results can be close to instantaneous.

I don’t believe essential oils are a panacea for Lyme disease treatment, but I have heard many, many positive stories, some of complete recovery, via use of essential oils. I believe they should be considered an important option for those recovering from Lyme disease.

We’ve partnered up with Perry Fields to offer you her essential oil blends with free shipping. Just use coupon code FREESHIP (with all caps) when you place your order for her essential oils.  You can buy her 6 formula set for $191.70 with free shipping. There are a number of other very good essential oil formulations on the market, too. Different essential oils have different known uses. For example, the research physician mentioned above says he’s used clove oil successfully against Bartonella.

My wife has discovered many other useful applications for essential oils in our home medicine apothecary, and we use them for everything from stuffy sinuses to back pain. You can get a starter kit like this one, or opt for the more expensive, comprehensive kits.
