Cat tests positive for H1N1

Yes, our animals can get different strains of FLU’s…..I put the BioEnergyC in my pets water bowl….they also get extra Omega’s and daily vitamins…..Not everyone can afford the Eukanuba dog food, BUT if you put your dogs/cats on the food, you will have less Vet bills….Our vet teases us about all our animals saying we take care of them more than most people take care of themselves…..I just smile …..Truly it saves on Vet bills…..

SCHAUMBERG, Illinois (KXAN) - An Iowa cat tests positive for the H1N1 influenza virus. This is the first time a cat has been found with the strain of the flu.
It is believed that the cat caught the virus from an owner that was sick with H1N1. There is no evidence that the cat passed the virus on to any other humans or animals.
The 2009 H1N1 flu has been found in humans, pigs, birds, ferrets, and now a cat.
The American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Feline Practioners remind pet owners to monitor their pets’ health closely. The groups say that some viruses can pass between people and animals.

It’s not uncommon for pets to pick up flu viruses from people. However, they usually don’t get too sick. It’s important to note that the chances of a cat or dog transmitting H1N1 to a person are almost nothing. There has never been a reported case of dog to human or cat to human transmission.
Thanks for the great information!

Hello Dr Marie and welcome to the blog.
I too would not be concerned about transmitting H1N1 from animals to humans.
My animals get their daily Omgega 3’s and a teaspoon of the BioEnergyC from
http://www.longevityplus.com in their gallon water bottle….that teaspoon equals 4000 mg of VitC…they get a daily vitamin and some slightly steamed fresh organic veggies, left over from dinner. The two older dogs are 11 yrs old and we also have a 3 year old standard lab..Our VET always comments on how healthy they are, when we take them in for their yearly check-up….They eat organic dog foods or Eukanuba dog foods…
To be honest with you I’m not afraid of the H1N1 flu….if you keep your VitD levels, VitA levels and VitC (I take 16,000 grams a day) up, you will find the flu bugs have a hard time getting through.
Again, hope you come back and post more on the blog.
