Organic produce is nutritionally superior to so-called “conventional” produce

Linda’s comments:  This is a great article on how to purchase organic produce and why it is important to do your best to eat organic.  I’m sure you have seen these BIG wooden tubs that folks use to plant flowers in?  These are perfect for your patio to plant your own organic produce, plus it isn’t on the ground to break your back bending over weeding, and feeding your plants…..I use chicken wire to protect it from rabbits, etc.  Zip ties are great for hooking it around the planter….Find your local organic farmers.  They are popping up all over Arizona, plus the Farmers Markets are growing like wild fire….

NaturalNews) Organic produce is nutritionally superior to so-called “conventional” produce, according to a comprehensive review conducted by researchers from the University of Aix-Marseille for the French food agency (AFSSA) and published in the journal Agronomy for Sustainable Development.

“This critical literature review indicates that organic agriculture, as developed until now, has the potential to produce high-quality products with some relevant improvements in terms of anti-oxidant phytomicronutrients, nitrate accumulation in vegetables and toxic residue levels,” the researchers wrote.

To be recognized as “organic,” a food product must be produced without the use of genetic modification or chemical fertilizers or pesticides, and must promote sustainable cropping methods. In the United States, organically produced meat and dairy must be raised without the use of synthetic growth hormones or antibiotics. Hormones and antibiotics are banned in animal production across the board in the European Union.

Vitamins and Teenagers: A Personal Statement

Vitamins and Teenagers: A Personal Statement
by Stephen H. Brown, PhD

(OMNS, Jan 26, 2010) In our house, vitamin supplements sit on the counter in open bowls like nuts, dried fruits, or jelly beans.

Colds, respiratory illnesses, intestinal viruses, mono, and other infectious diseases are constantly present in American schools. In response, my teenage kids have placed four bowls on the kitchen counter - a large one in the middle full of vitamin C surrounded by three smaller bowls of niacin, vitamin D, and thiamine tablets. They help themselves to the vitamins when they feel the need, and many of their friends have adopted the idea as well. Regularly, the kids report that the vitamins actually work. The most frequent comments are, “Wow, I can breath through my nose again!”, and “I was sure I was getting sick yesterday but I feel fine today.” Continued

How To Destroy Confidence In Vitamins When You Do Not Have The Facts

(OMNS, January 11, 2010) “Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to this year’s annual meeting of the World Headquarters Of Pharmaceutical Politicians, Educators, and Reporters (WHOPPER).

“Let us get right to the point. Many of our members and affiliates have complained about what is, for us, an alarming and dangerous segment of health care: so-called ‘orthomolecular medicine.’ We wish to assure you, although this therapeutic approach is, unfortunately, very effective in preventing and treating disease, that we will make sure the public will never learn of it. We can say this with considerable confidence, since for over 50 years we have managed to keep virtually all psychiatrists from using niacin to treat schizophrenia; we have kept cardiologists from prescribing vitamin E and co enzyme Q10 for heart disease; and we have kept general practitioners from prescribing vitamin C for viral illnesses.

“Yes, it has really been a triumphant half-century. How did we do it? It is really quite easy. Here is a summary for those of you that may have missed the last WHOPPER meeting.

No Deaths From Vitamins or Minerals

Linda’s comment:  There has not been one death caused by a vitamin or dietary minerals.  Toxicology shows zero deaths from multiple vitamins; zero deaths from any of the B vitamins; zero deaths from vitamins A, C, D, or E; and zero deaths from any other vitamin, yet the media and the medical establishment continue to slam the use of the very thing that could keep them healthy.  FOLLOW THE MONEY folks…read the Orthomolecular Medicine News Service report from October 14, 2009.  Are we safe? I would say yes.  I would have been dead by now had it not been for the supplements I take.  The FDA and the news media are always looking for the bodies, but of course they need to protect the pockets of the Pharmaceutical industry, which btw does multi million dollar studies using 500 mg of VitC and then turn around and say the 500 mg of VitC showed no significance??!!  I guess not…what a waste of money….I take 20,000 grams of VitC daily, along with the rest of the FIGHT program….With all the health problems I suffer from it is the vitamins/supplement/herbals that keep me going…

Start standing up for your CHOICE and RIGHTS folks.  Do your research and then listen to your body as you swallow your choices of medical herbals….

Be Healthy

VITAMIN C AND ACIDITY

Excerpt:

(OMNS, December 8, 2009) Vitamin C is commonly taken in large quantities to improve health and prevent asthma, allergies, viral infection, and heart disease [1,2]. It is non-toxic and non-immunogenic, and does not irritate the stomach as drugs like aspirin can. Yet vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) is acidic. So, a common question is, what are the effects from taking large quantities?

Ascorbic acid is a weak acid (pKa= 4.2) [3], only slightly stronger than vinegar. When dissolved in water, vitamin C is sour but less so than citric acid found in lemons and limes. Can large quantities of a weak acid such as ascorbate cause problems in the body? The answer is, sometimes, in some situations. However, with some simple precautions they can be avoided.

Acid in the Mouth
First of all, any acid can etch the surfaces of your teeth. This is the reason the dentist cleans your teeth and warns about plaque, for acid generated by bacteria in the mouth can etch your teeth to cause cavities. Cola soft drinks contain phosphoric acid, actually used by dentists to etch teeth before tooth sealants are applied. Like soft drinks, ascorbic acid will not cause etching of teeth if only briefly present. Often, vitamin C tablets are coated with a tableting ingredient such as magnesium stearate which prevents the ascorbate from dissolving immediately. Swallowing a vitamin C tablet without chewing it prevents its acid from harming tooth enamel.

High-Dose Vitamin C Therapy Proven Effective

Linda’s comments:  Thank you for high-dose VitC therapy….I have used VitC in high doses for over 30 years with great success.  My daily dosing is 20,000 grams.  I use one of the best VitC’s on the market…yes I pay more, but I do pay more because I know it is the best money can buy.  I don’t get colds, flu and infections.  Those that say that VitC didn’t work for them, is more than likely because they took such a small dose….I even give my dogs 4000 mgs a day of VitC in their gallon water jug….they love it….Bio En’R-Gy C is my personal choice…easy to mix and taste good.

Linda

Why treat nutritional deficiency with drugs?

Linda’s comments:  Poor nutrition will and does cause many illness in adults and children.  Eating GMO foods, fast foods, junk foods, drinking any kind of soda regular and/or diet you are asking for troble.  For those young women out there who are thinking about having children, you need to think first about cleaning up your body before getting pregnant. An unborn baby is a toxic dump for the mother.  All the toxins and bad things she eats go right to the baby.  If the mother has amalgam fillings all that mercury goes straight to the unborn child.

While diet/nutrition is one of the hardest things in the world it is one of the most important things for good health.  Today, we have to worry about all the GMO foods.  We have to be concerned about pesticides, herbicides, how it is prepared, packaged and stored before it gets to your mouth.

Using drugs to fix the problems that a poor diet has caused is only adding more problems to the mix.  Why add more toxins to our bodies.  Try cleaning up your lifestyle, and adding vitamins, herbals and supplements to your everyday living.

Focus on cleaning out the toxins you have packed in and stored by getting on a lifelong daily detox, them supplementing the nutrients using a good quality supplement product.  Using drugs will only compound your problems.

Regards,

Linda or Angel

(OMNS, November 13, 2008) A recent study suggested that statins might be used to avoid the effects of nutritional deficiency. Writing in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Jupiter group described a study of statin drugs in people with high C-reactive protein and low cholesterol. (1) High C-reactive protein levels are associated with inflammation and heart disease/stroke. The authors concluded that, in apparently healthy persons with elevated C-reactive protein levels, rosuvastatin (Crestor) significantly reduced the incidence of major cardiovascular events. Continued
