Hypothyrodism and endothelial dysfunction – a message from Dr. Gordon

This mainstream report found that one year of Levothyroxine treatment does not fully restore endothelial function. This is important for two reasons:
1. Mainstream is beginning to acknowledge that low thyroid functioning contributes to heart disease.
2. Also I suggest that Heart Disease is multifactorial and, therefore, MONOTHERAPY will often fail.

Many would feel that the type of thyroid replacement is a partial explanation but I feel that we would need to look at Iodine to have provided a better outcome. But all the elements of my FIGHT program are relevant for those seeking OPTIMAL improvement in cardiac or endothelial function. There is always low levels of some nutrients (F), take your pick from Vit D to Magnesium. There will always be the high probability of CMV infection (I). And, probably some Genetic issues with some epigenetic changes increasing the need for methylation support including the active forms of Folic Acid (G). Then there will always be some element of heavy metals (H: Lead, etc.) and there will be Toxins in everyone that include endocrine disruptors and neurotoxins (T)!

Thus this report should help prove the need for broadly based approaches in dealing with chronic illness such as endothelial dysfunction leading to atherosclerosis.

Abstract:
 Summary Objective
Hypothyroidism is associated with elevated cardiovascular risk, not fully explained by classical risk factors. Instead, endothelial dysfunction may link hypothyroidism to atherosclerosis. The effect of levothyroxine substitution on endothelial function has been sparsely studied and the results are unclear. This study tested endothelial function as estimated by concomitant measurements of endothelial dependent vascular dilatory capacity and plasma concentration of von Willebrand factor antigen in patients with hypothyroidism and further examined  the impact of subsequent levothyroxine substitution.

Follicular Borreliosis

Excerpt:

A 56-year-old woman was referred to our department for an
eruption on the front side of the left thigh present for 6 months,
accompanied more recently by arthralgia and localized subjective
neurological symptoms.
The eruption started a few days after an insect bite by a red papule which secondarily enlarged.
The erythema was of variable intensity. Clinical examination revealed
peripilar red papules of the thigh from the groin to the knee( fig. 1 ).
The patient had no remarkable contralateral keratosis pilaris.

Follicular Borreliosis: An Atypical Presentation of Erythema Chronicum Migrans

Lyme serology was positive for both IgG and IgM (ELISA, Enzygnost
Borreliosis , Siemens, Dade Behring, Germany, and blot,
Euroline WB , Euroimmun, Germany). A punch biopsy of a papule showed a dermal perifollicular ( fig. 2 ) – and occasionnally perineural – infiltrate of lymphocytes and plasma cells, consistent with a borrelial infection. Borrelia burgdorferi DNA was amplified from fresh tissue obtained from a skin biopsy performed on a peripilar papule, using a specific real-time PCR according to Mäkinen et al. [1] (culture not performed). The erythema resolved after a 3-week doxycycline treatment whereas arthralgia and dysesthesia persisted.

Spirochetes in cardiac biopsies

Linda’s comment:  This report was posted in 1989 but it still is true today.  Many of us Lymies have/had Lyme Carditis.  It can be frightening to say the least.  I was never one to do antibiotics, but I did plenty of anti microbial’s, herbals, supplements and later the FIGHT lifelong daily detox and don’t have those problems today.  Reducing heavy metals and reducing my total body burden of pathogens and toxins has been God sent to me.  You don’t have to use the brands that I chose, but I know the products I used worked, and are still working for me.   I have battled (5) Cancers, (2) Lyme infections, COPD, Arthritis, CHF, Varestrongylus Klapowi worm, and several other health woes, however once I woke up and made the right lifestyle changes, the battles I fought became much easier.  Giving up GMO foods, removing all the toxins, chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, and toxic cleaning supplies from my home made this healing and detox journey much easier. Being a southern cook, it wasn’t as hard as I anticipated to make cooking changes.  My recipes have become just as delicious.  Did I complain when making these changes, you betcha I did.  However, when I begin my research on all the no no’s in my life and finding out the Cancers were environmental Cancers, threw me right into the mission of making changes.  Once I stopped complaining to my self it was much easier.  It became a challenge to prove to myself I could make these changes.  In the beginning I never told my family that they were eating gluten free or Buffalo meat.  When they began to tell me that they knew something was different, but it tasted good to them, I finally admitted about the gluten free and Buffalo. Regards, Linda

Cardiac involvement occurring early in Borrelia burgdorferi infection is a clinical manifestation of human Lyme disease. Therefore, two patients with acute complete atrioventricular heart blocks and unexplained recurrent dizziness were studied. Both patients had significantly elevated serum titers of IgM and IgG antibodies to B. burgdorferi. Right ventricular subendocardial biopsies showed dense infiltrates consisting of lymphocytes and plasma cells. Silver staining revealed spirochetes characteristic of B. burgdorferi near and in the infiltrates, between the muscle fibers, and in the endocardium. One patient responded to penicillin; the other did not, necessitating installation of a pacemaker. Thus, permanent heart damage may result from cardiac involvement in Lyme disease. Continued

The tick and the time bomb

Linda’s comment:  Thanks to the Colorado Springs INDEPENDENT for presenting this article on Lyme disease.  It presents what is going on today worldwide.  We need more newspapers to come to the Lyme communities rescue and help us get the word out.  I work with thousands of Lymies doing research and helping to guide them to make better healthcare choices.  I personally have battled 2 Lyme infections and have been blessed to live in a state where alternative doctors are licensed to practice <OUTSIDE OF THE BOX>  The one thing I have come to realize is our bodies are so overloaded with pathogens and toxins, that without lifestyle changes, getting rid of the heavy metals, being gluten free, caffeine free, sugar free, alcohol free, fast food free and most importantly GMO FREE, you struggle reaching the level of wellness you desire.  Getting rid of all the above is difficult, since we have industry shoving it in our faces at every turn.  I’m so thankful that I found the FIGHT program that Dr Garry Gordon has developed.  I couldn’t believe how many pathogens and toxins I have dumped over the last year and a half.  I have a long way to go, but I can tell you, I thank God daily for the FIGHT program.
