Ehrlichia, SLE, & Comments by Linda

Linda’s comment:  WHEN I was first diagnosed, they diagnosed me with SLE, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia and a host of other autoimmune disease…I remember when a group member, whom I’m not close friends with, said, “no, you have lyme disease and co-infections”…I thought he was nuts….didn’t take long until I realized, after hours  and hours of research that HE WAS RIGHt….I even had carotid surgery, as a spirochete was wrapped around the carotid and choking me….the idiot doctors, argued with me that it was not Lyme…it wasn’t until 6 months later when I finally got my hands on the pathology report, with the pathologists requesting more testing using specific dyes, did I know….THANK GOD for my alternative docs who diagnosed me and alternative treatments began….

A
number of studies previously published, and new information presented
here, suggest that EA infections may be an underlying, undiagnosed cause
for these and other immune system diseases. This hypothesis, long
overlooked, has never been subjected to adequate, rigorous study
sufficient to prove or disprove its truth. If so, patients may be
treated with antibiotics, and marrow transplant manipulations already
used in treatment of diseases such as lupus and leukemia may become more
effective.

Lyme emergence in Brazil & IDSA denial

Linda’s comment:  Where will it all end…..Lyme has become a world-wide epidemic, yet the ISDA boys/girls say there is not such thing as chronic Lyme!!  I don’t know where they went to medical school but they need to ask for a refund from their medical school.  Many of the IDSA members have written published studies on Lyme and the co-infections, yet they deny treatment to suffering people….

An emerging clinical entity that reproduces clinical manifestations
similar to those observed in Lyme disease (LD) has been recently
under discussion in Brazil. Due to etiological and laboratory particularities
it is named LD-like syndrome or LD imitator syndrome. The
condition is considered to be a zoonosis transmitted by ticks of the
genus Amblyomma, possibly caused by interaction of multiple fastidious
microorganisms originating a protean clinical picture, including
neurological, osteoarticular and erythema migrans-like lesions.

In October 2010, I attended the ILADS 2010 Annual event.  The event was packed.  Almost 400 people attended in person and over 1,000 people watched on the live webcast.  It is exciting to see so many people taking an interest in this controversial area of medicine.  The event was full of great information and people working hard to help us all find answers.

In this blog entry, I will share a few of the key takeaways that I learned at the event.  The slides from the event are available for purchase here for a very reasonable $40.  The DVDs (Friday’s sessions) and CDs of the presentations can be obtained from ZenWorks Productions.  Thus, I am not going to attempt to repeat information that is available elsewhere, but I will focus on some of the key things that caught my attention.

  • The 2011 ILADS event will be in Toronto, Canada – October 28-30, 2011
  • Dr. Richard Horowitz proposed that Chronic Lyme is really MCIDS  MultipleChronic Infectious Disease Syndrome
  • Biofilm treatment may be with EDTA or a Banderol/Samento combination.  There may be a strong antigen release with biofilm treatment which may make it a good candidate for pulsed therapy
  • Dr. Steve Harris mentioned that yeast may cannibalize dying Borrelia and that yeast is not always the result of antibiotic therapy alone.  He suggested up to 100 billion probiotic organisms daily.  In terms of diet, he said, “If it’s white, it ain’t right”
  • Minocycline may have longer toxic effects than doxycycline but has better CNS penetration.  Mino also has less sun sensitivity than doxy.  That said, Dr. Joe Burrascano commented that the effectiveness of minocycline may be regional as he never observed it working well in his patients

Most people battling chronic Lyme disease think of the illness as an infection caused by a bacterium known commonly as Borrelia Burgdorferi, generally transmitted via the bite of an infected tick.  What many don’t recognize, however, is that recovery from chronic Lyme disease requires a recognition that the disease is truly a much more complex illness.  Recovery often challenges one to consider more than just infection as the single causative agent involved in the disease process.  It is through looking beyond the infectious component of Lyme disease and understanding the equally important aspects of damaging heavy metals and other toxic insults that a more full and lasting recovery may be realized.

Garry F. Gordon MD, DO, MD (H) co-founded the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) and serves as the President of Gordon Research Institute.  Dr. Gordon graciously spent a couple of hours with me sharing his views on chronic Lyme disease and those factors that are important in recovering from chronic illness.

Dr. Gordon acknowledges Lyme disease as a serious infection which can lead to a wide-variety of health challenges.  He does not, however, hyperfocus on the specific tick-borne pathogens which cause the disease.  He instead believes that a multitude of infections are prevalent in anyone with chronic ill health.  In addition to these numerous infections, our state of health is closely tied to our total body burden of endogenous and exogenous toxins.  When looking at why illness is present, it is important to look at a number of factors including genetics, chronic infections, and total body burden of heavy metals and other toxins.

Peering into one’s genetic makeup can be quite helpful when establishing the proper course of action and considering what factors may have contributed to one’s state of health.  The more precisely a practitioner can understand the genetic contributors, the more accurately a treatment protocol can be outlined to fit a person’s unique needs.  As an example, a specific gene mutation can suggest an inability of the body to remove toxic heavy metals.  Thus, even tests performed to determine whether or not one is heavy metal toxic can be incorrect if the metals are not being released due to this specific genetic profile.  Where many doctors may miss a heavy metal toxicity issue in these patients, a practitioner incorporating a genetic review into their diagnostic workup is much better equipped to evaluate the potential impact of toxic metals on the overall state of health.

Lyme Disease: Arthritis by Infection

Linda’s Comment:  It amazes me that in the following publications do we find any suggestions about reducing our total body burden of pathogens and toxins.  It is a MUST that Lymies begin to reduce their total body burden of pathogens and toxins in order to begin addressing Lyme, Lyme Arthritis, Arthritis, and other chronic illness we see with Lyme patients.  Some people choose antibiotics…..I personally never went near antibiotics.  My whole detox and healing program was using anti-microbials, alternative medicine, alternative modalities, NO GMO foods, NO sugars, NO fast foods, NO soda’s, NO caffeine, NO coffee and I ate and still do eat organic foods.  I also have used a PhotonGenie since 2001 and use it daily.  I like it better than Rife, as I don’t have to worry about settings, I just turn it on and go.  I even sleep in mine.  The critters we Lymies fight LOVE heavy metals and especially GMO foods.

There are also some foods that you don’t want to eat if you are having symptoms of Arthritis, however, it is more important to get rid of the GMO, sugars, coffee and soda’s to reduce the inflammation and pain.  The great thing about the fight program is you are dissolving biofilms and reducing inflammation on a daily basis.  So much of our pain comes from inflammation.

I of course use many more things with my lifelong daily detox protocol.  If you can get IV chelation and do weekly colonics you can move things along faster.  However, you can start the program one step at a time and move at your own pace.  This is one protocol that must be done as suggested to get the full benefit of wellness.  The first three months are your toughest, but after that it is a breeze.  Yes, ever so often you have a day or two like you did when you first started, but I tell folks, it is like peeling an onion.  As you reach a new level you will have a couple of days where you keep your bathroom close.  At the end of 60 to 90 days and you begin to feel your life coming back to you, you will be very pleased that you began this journey.  Feel free to ask questions and I will share my journey with you.  Just remember JUST SAY NO TO GMO!!
