You are a Professor of Medicine??  If I headed the University of Southampton you would be gone for publishing a  statement that could cause death and disability, and because you did absolutely no research or you would have known how absurd your statement is.

 On August 27, 2000, in Scotland on Sunday, I answered the International Sweeteners Association who said before putting  a sweetener on the market it has to undergo rigorous safety testing.  I explained “it did and failed”.  Then I gave the info, On Jan 10, 1977 in a 33 page letter, FDA Chief Council Richard Merrill recommended to US Attorney Sam Skinner that a grand jury investigate Searle for “apparent violations of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act 21 USC 331 and the False Reports to the Government Act, 18 USC 1001, for their willing and knowing failure to make reports to the FDA, required the Act 21 USC 355 (i) and for concealing material facts and making false statements in reports of animal studies conducted to establish the safety of aspartame.” “
