Linda, Dr. Gordon, comment on Fruit & Vegetable intake

Linda Comment:  We are what we EAT!!  Food is healing, that is if you are not eating GMO garbage….Today it is even more important that we watch what we eat and try and get the foods that will help us heal….

Dr. Gordon’s Comments:

his research supports the need to prescribe food, not drugs, to patients. Each serving of fruit or vegetable lowers overall risk by 4%.

The findings also suggested that people who consumed at least eight portions of fruits and vegetables per day had a 22 percent lower risk of fatal ischemic heart disease compared with those in the study who consumed three or fewer servings per day.  In fact, the data shows that EVERY SERVING lowered risk by 4% and even a medium size apple counted as two servings! So an apple a day DOES help keep the doctor away.

Avocado adds a rich taste and creamy texture to green vegetable soups without milk or cream. I got the idea for this from the California Avocado Commission. I replaced zucchini in their recipe with broccoli, increased the volume of vegetables, and changed the seasonings. This soup goes well with fish, poultry, or meat with a bright orange, yellow, or red vegetable or fruit. Baked corn tortilla chips would make a great accompaniment.

Concern Over Canned Foods

Linda’s comment.  All the more reason why you don’t eat GMO and moving into the world of organics is the safest way to save your health.   We must begin to make the move to cook only FRESH foods.  Soups are best is home-made and we all know that.  As consumers, WE CAN control the industry.  If consumers just STOP BUYING, then the industry will change.  It happened with baby bottles, so why can’t it happen with canned foods??  JUST SAY NO to canned foods.
