Squirrels have co-infections too

Overlapping geographic distributions of tick-borne disease agents
utilizing the same tick vectors are common, and coinfection of
humans, domestic animals, wildlife, and ticks with both Borrelia
burgdorferi and Anaplasma phagocytophilum has been frequently
reported. This study was undertaken in order to evaluate the
prevalence of both B. burgdorferi sensu stricto (hereinafter
referred to as B.
burgdorferi) and A. phagocytophilum in several species of sciurid
rodents from northern California, USA. Rodents were either
collected dead as road-kills or live-trapped in four state parks
from 13 counties. Thirty-seven western gray squirrels (Sciurus
griseus), nine nonnative eastern gray squirrels (S.
carolinensis) and an eastern fox squirrel (S. niger), four
Douglas squirrels (Tamiasciurus douglasii), and two northern
flying squirrels (Glaucomys sabrinus) were tested by polymerase
chain reaction (PCR) and serology for evidence of coinfection. Of
the 14 individual S. griseus that were PCR-positive for B.
burgdorferi, two (14%) also were PCR-positive for A.
phagocytophilum and 11
(79%) had serologic evidence of A. phagocytophilum exposure. Two
of the four Douglas squirrels were PCR positive for B.
burgdorferi and seropositive to A.

Bartonella quintana in body lice and head lice from homeless persons

Bartonella quintana is a bacterium that causes trench fever in humans. Past reports have  shown Bartonella spp. infections in homeless populations in San Francisco, California,  USA. The California Department of Public Health in collaboration with San Francisco  Project Homeless Connect initiated a program in 2007 to collect lice from the homeless to  test for B. quintana and to educate the homeless and their caregivers on prevention and  control of louse-borne disease. During 2007–2008, 33.3% of body lice–infested persons  and 25% of head lice–infested persons had lice pools infected with B. quintana strain  Fuller. Further work is needed to examine how homeless persons acquire lice and  determine the risk for illness to persons infested with B. quintana–infected lice.

Exposure level to Borrelia based on woodland type and temperature

Excerpt:

In the far-western United States, the nymphal stage of the
western black-legged tick, Ixodes pacificus, has been implicated
as the primary vector to humans of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu
stricto (hereinafter referred to as B. burgdorferi), the
causative agent of Lyme borreliosis in North America. In the
present study, we sought to determine if infection prevalence
with B. burgdorferi in I.
pacificus nymphs and the density of infected nymphs differ
between dense-woodland types within Mendocino County, California,
and to develop and evaluate a spatially-explicit model for
density of infected nymphs in dense woodlands within this
high-incidence area for Lyme borreliosis. In total, 4.9%
(264) of 5431 I. pacificus nymphs tested for the presence of B.
burgdorferi were infected. Among the 78 sampling sites, infection
prevalence ranged from 0 to 22% and density of infected nymphs
from 0 to 2.04 per 100 m(2). Infection prevalence was highest in
woodlands dominated by hardwoods (6.2%) and lowest for redwood
(1.9%) and coastal pine (0%). Density of infected nymphs also was
higher in hardwood-dominated woodlands than in conifer-dominated
ones that included redwood or pine. Our spatial risk model, which
yielded an overall accuracy of 85%, indicated that warmer areas
with less variation between maximum and minimum monthly water
vapor in the air were more likely to include woodlands with
elevated acarological risk of exposure to infected nymphs. We
found that 37% of dense woodlands in the county were predicted to
pose an elevated risk of exposure to infected nymphs, and that
94% of the dense-woodland areas that were predicted to harbor
elevated densities of infected nymphs were located on
privately-owned land.

Wild Meat Raises Lead Exposure

Linda’s comments:  No only do we have to worry about eating wild meat containing Lyme disease, but now we have to be concerned about the “lead” exposure from eating this meat.  There is also proof that deer from our high mountain ranges are getting lead exposure from the “coal” stacks in China.

Heavy metals is all around us and it is a must that we begin a journey in a lifelong daily detox program to reduce these heavy metals from our bodies.  For those with chronic illness, like Lyme disease, it becomes deadly.  If you have amalgams, it is important to have them safely removed by a dentist that knows how to remove them properly.  Look for a Holistic dentists and if there are none in your community, then ask around for dentists that have experience in removing amalgams safely.

You can help protect yourself by finding a lifelong daily detox like the FIGHT program.  I have been on this protocol for over a year and am very pleased.  Feel free to ask questions about the products I have found that replenish my body to a healthy state.  Don’t get caught up in a once a year cleanse.  A lifelong cleanse is vital for good health.

I Love Being Hated by Quackbusters…

Linda’s comment: This is a must to sign up for…..The BOLEN REPORT is well worth signing up for.  Tim Bolen doesn’t take any of the flack from the Barrett…Tim is also a friend of the alternative and complimentary medical communities.  This is just one of the great articles in this issue.

New Orleans area doctor James Carter MD, PhD, author of the famous book “Racketeering in Medicine,” the blatant 1994 expose of the plot to destroy innovation in US health care, called me up one day, several years back, and asked me if I was coming to a certain health convention where he was going to be. Suzanne Somers’s Cancer Book “Knockout”

Linda’s Comment:  I’m in the process of reading this book and so far it ROCKS.  Having battled (5) Cancers myself and beaten them on using ONLY alternative medicine and adjuncts, I can relate to much of what Suzanne has to say.  Cancer is preventable, but many of us don’t pay attention until we hear those words,”You have Cancer”….Yes, it certainly gets your attention.  Many forget to stop and think about how they ended up with Cancer?  These are things you don’t think of ,UNTIL you hear those words, and then it is usually the last thing you even think about.  Once I got over the shock of hearing those words and had my treatment protocol laid out, I wanted to know how and why? No, I didn’t question God, but I questioned myself.  Thanks to my alternative doctors and friends I stepped back and began looking at what I ate. Yep, I ate a lot of GMO foods, sugar, the wrong fats and used a microwave.  I began looking under my cabinets and in my medicine cabinets, as well as my laundry room.  Boy was I shocked.  My friends, doctors and research lead me to start removing all the toxins and chemicals I had around me.  It actually isn’t hard to do, but it is a shocker that the FDA would allow the industry to sells these DEADLY products.

The chemical toxins that we use to clean and wash our clothes with are scary when you begin to read labels.  The chemicals we put on our bodies and the cosmetics that are toxic and loaded with chemicals will make you angry, as they did me.  How could the industry approve them?  How could the industry in good faith shove these chemicals at us?  I had no idea what perfume and body creams were putting into my blood stream, much less in my lungs, breasts and ovaries!!  The plug-in air-fresheners and aerosol sprays are DEADLY.  The good news is there are cleaning products, laundry products, body creams, shampoos that are not toxic and filling our bodies with additional toxins.  Oh yea, let’s not forget the pesticides and herbicides that are giving us our toxic world!!

I only wish I had known about the FIGHT program, that I began over a year ago.  Thank you Dr Gordon for developing this lifelong daily detox protocol.  IT WORKS….They talk about the FIGHT program in the 16th chapter of Suzanne’s book.  The FIGHT protocol has helped me begin to dissolve biofilms and reduce my total body burden of pathogens and toxins.  The great thing about this program is it is lifelong.  Yes, I said lifelong, but we are living in a very toxic world and are being slammed daily with hundreds of toxins from our environment.
