Liver nourishment recipe

Linda’s comments:  Those of us with chronic illness need to be nourishing our livers at all times…a simple way is to do the CBC cocktail at least 3 times weekly….during the Cancer days and active Lyme days I did one daily….here is the recipe….DO NO I repeat DO NOT alter this recipe for liver nourishment…

1 organic medium carrot….I never use the tops as it makes the drink way to bitter….you can use 2 small
carrots but I don’t like the extra sugar that carrots have.
2 organic medium beets…..Use the top greens and the entire beet
1 organic medium cucumber….do not peel….cut off the tip of the cuke and take a knife and reem it down in
the open end of the cuke, twisting a few times…..THEN shove a whole peeled
garlic clove in  the cuke…..juicers don’t like little pieces, so this way the garlic
                                     clove gets chewed  up.

Salt to taste with sea salt or a good salt….DRINK down within 20 to 30 min. so you get all the benefits of the enzymes…

When I say do not alter, (some folks like to add lemon, apples, etc.,etc.), I mean it…. THIS IS A NOURISHMENT drink for the liver and not specifically for detox….

When you nourish the liver with this drink it will create its own flush….

There are some liver flush drinks out there, but I prefer this method, as did my Lyme and Cancer doctors.

I’m not big anymore on different flushes, except for the gallbladder, which I do once or twice a year to keep my gallbladder clean from stones….I’m more into the lifelong daily detoxing and nourishing from the FIGHT protocol….I want to keep up DAILY what my body needs and focus on a constant removal of pathogens and toxins…we get DAILY heavy metals, which our bodies that are full of inflammation are hit with….I have been on the FIGHT protocol for 2 years now and no longer have the bone pain I once did…

Upcoming webinar, with introduction by Dr. Gordon

Who needs thyroid? That issue will be discussed by high level academicians who are lab experts who are discussing some new ways to evaluate thyroid function. Of course the book by Mark Starr MD called Hypothyroidism Type Two will not be on this agenda but these are some enlighten experts who see that current thyroid testing leaves much to be desired.

Excerpt:

Approximately 20 million Americans now suffer from some form of thyroid disease, but experts estimate that about 13 million of them have not been diagnosed. With so many affected by a dysfunctional thyroid gland, thyroid function testing is becoming increasingly important to support both the diagnosis and management of thyroid disease. Unfortunately, controversy still exists concerning the upper limit of the TSH reference range and there is still confusion over when to use other thyroid immunoassays in the management of patients suspected of thyroid disease. Additionally, tandem mass spectrometry is rapidly emerging as a technology that could challenge labs’ reliance on traditional immunoassays for T4 and FT4.

During this interactive webinar, you will hear the most up-to-date information on a variety of contemporary issues related to testing for thyroid disease.

Prostate Cancer with comments by Dr. Gordon

I believe over 90% of all prostate cancer does not need surgery or radiation. Now you have another expert agreeing but he puts the number at 80% did not need surgery.

Dr Aaron Katz is Director of Holisitic Urology at Columbia University Medical Center in NY. The impact of Oximation on DNA transcription is becoming more evident. Researchers at Stanford,MD Anderson,Johns Hopkins, and Columbia looking at prostate cancer seem to be ahead of other researchers looking at cancer. The upshot is that epidemiologically, what we see work for prostate cancer also works for breast cancer. This article is from the Winter edition of Holistic Primary Care.
There are approximately 200,000 new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed each year. The vast majority are caught at early stages— thanks to concerted screening efforts—and most can be controlled through a comprehensive multimodal holistic approach aimed at reducing inflammation, a key driver of the disease.

Infants & Plastic with comments by Linda, Dr. Gordon

Linda’s comment:  This is the very reason why most holistic/alternative doctors give their IV’s in glass bottles….plastic IV bags…..Can’t do anything about IV’s running through plastic lines…. I have to out-gas my oxygen tubes and nebulizer tubing before I can use them….I believe there is research going on, on how to makes some chemical FREE IV lines….<crossing fingers>
Dr. Gordon’s Comments: The parents’ concern about chemicals in IV bags and tubes are attempted to be answered in this very small study of 18 children. It tries to answer something about the potential for long-term adverse effects from phthalates delivered coincidentally with IV infusions through plastic lines that are now known to deliver toxins with the treatment.

Surrounded By Plastic, NICU Infants Tested For Risk
by Jon Hamilton
May 19, 2009

Critically ill newborns may help researchers figure out whether children are at risk from plastic additives called phthalates.

Scientists say the nation’s sickest newborns are exposed to unusually high levels of phthalates — chemicals in plastics that can mimic hormones — because they often spend days or weeks connected to feeding tubes, breathing tubes and intravenous lines made of plastic. And the exposure comes at a critical time in human development.

One doctor conducted a follow-up study by testing patients years after they were exposed to phthalates as infants in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Dr. Gordon, Linda comment on new book

Linda’s comment….I just ordered this book….

Dr. Gordon’s Comment: A new book, Dancing Cats, Silent Canaries by a FACT member and ER doctor, sheds important light on how most doctors are not thinking about toxins or even recent vaccinations when they see sick patients, leading to wrong diagnosis, and reliance on symptom control, not treating causes.

This review from Amazon may help you decide if you want to add this interesting and informative new book to your collection. I think you will be glad you own it, as there are so many patients that do not understand all the contributions to our impaired health today and many can learn from the stories in this well written and interesting new book by one or our own.

This review is from: Dancing Cats, Silent Canaries: A Traditional Medical Doctor takes a closer look at unsolved epidemics of Autism & SIDS and proposes a solution (Paperback)

Dancing Cats Silent Canaries is the story of the medical career of Dr. David Denton Davis, and how it parallels his thinking of how toxins can contribute to SIDS and Autism leading to his philosophical idea of the precautionary principle. The precautionary principle in simple layman’s terms means that due caution and care must be given to children and infants if there is any risk of them being harmed. It is somewhat similiar to the naturopaths credo first do no harm.

Butternut Squash With Taragon

1 Butternut squash (about 2 pounds)

2 Tablespoon organic butter

2 Tablespoon minced fresh tarragon or 2 t. dried tarragon

Salt and pepper

Place the squash cut-side-down on a safe plate or glass dish with a little water in the bottom.  Bake until tender (400 degrees for one hour)  Check the squash. If it isn’t soft enough, bake a little longer. Scrape the seeds out of the squash and discard, then scrape all flesh into a serving bowl.

Stir in the butter and tarragon and let sit at least 5 minutes for the flavors to come out.  Season with salt and pepper and serve.

Environmental Toxins – Time Magazine

Linda’s comment:  Environmental Toxins in our homes are deadly and especially for those who are chronically ill.  Lyme critters feed off these environmental toxins….Clean up your homes…it doesn’t take much….remove all the chemicals out of your home to begin your heavy journey to wellness….

On the first Earth Day, celebrated 40 years ago this month, the U.S. was a poisoned nation. Dense air pollution blanketed cities like Los Angeles, where smog alerts were a fact of life. Dangerous pesticides like DDT were still in use, and water pollution was rampant — symbolized by raging fires on Cleveland’s Cuyahoga River, captured in a famous 1969 story for TIME. But the green movement that was energized by Earth Day — and the landmark federal actions that followed it — changed much of that. Today air pollution is down significantly in most urban areas, the water is cleaner, and even the Cuyahoga is home to fish again. Though climate change looms as a long-term threat, the 40th anniversary of Earth Day will see a much cleaner country.

Manual lymphtic massage – extremely important!

Lymphatic massages are extremely important for Lyme patients or any chronically ill patients….

Magnesium deficiency addressed by removing mercury

Linda’s comment:  FINALLY a doctor that gets it…..

Excerpt:

Today, clinicians have major concerns with Toxic Body Burden, consisting of toxic heavy metals, pesticides, volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) and pathogen load, and how these poisons adversely affect the nutritional status of their patients. A particularly critical example of the interference of toxins with nutritional status and biochemical function is the competitive aspect of Mercury and Magnesium.

Mercury, Magnesium and Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)

Mercury specifically competes with Magnesium and interferes with all Magnesium-dependent metabolic pathways, such as production of energy from ATP and GTP, which directly leads to lack of chemical energy. Every cell in the body requires chemical energy derived from ATP or GTP to function, heal and regenerate. Adenosine-5′-triphosphate (ATP) is a multifunctional nucleotide that is critical as the “molecular currency” of intracellular energy transfer. In this role, ATP transports chemical energy within cells for metabolism. It is produced as an energy source during the processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration and consumed by many enzymes and a multitude of cellular processes, including biosynthetic reactions, motility and cell division. In signal transduction pathways, ATP is used as a substrate by kinases that phosphorylate proteins and lipids, as well as by adenylate cyclase, which uses ATP to produce the second messenger molecule cyclic AMP. If Mercury is present, this cannot occur.
